$1,000.00 Sign-On Bonus Available

This position provides treatment, care, and training of individuals in their care, transports residents on and off campus to designated areas such as classrooms and various medical/dental appointments. Under the direct supervision of the Residential Director this position:
  • Drives a vehicle on/off campus to transport individual(s) to various destinations and doctors' appointments.
  • Performs light maintenance on vehicles such as checking brakes, cleaning vans, and straightening Q'straints.
  • Practices safety rules as they apply to the operation of the vehicle such as using Q'straints on the adaptive van.
  • Performs DSP duties to include but not limited to assisting with the needs of the consumers, transporting consumers to other events not related to a doctor appointment, working overtime as needed, and other duties as warranted.
  • Responsible for reporting significant events and suspected abuse immediately per agency policy and procedures.
  • Responsible for following all Agency policies and procedures and may be required to perform additional duties as required.
Positions for this posting are located at Coastal Regional Center, an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID) of BHDD-OIDD located in Summerville, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

This position is eligible for up to $3.50/hour shift differential for applicable shifts!

Sign-on bonus for eligible candidates will be distributed after three, six, nine, and twelve months of successful continuous Full-Time employment.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A High School Diploma or GED. A Valid Drivers License.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to perform basic administrative tasks. General knowledge of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Knowledge of basic safety practices. Ability to accurately communicate. Ability to utilize a computer. Ability to bend, stoop, lift, push, pull, reach, and walk. Ability to work in a group home, home-like setting or intermediate care facility. Physical ability to work with individuals who may be physically aggressive or medically fragile.

Immunization: If this position requires the applicant to work directly with consumers of The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, tuberculosis (TB) skin or blood testing must be completed prior to beginning employment. All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, Varicella and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.

State Disaster Plan: In accordance with the State's Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, employees of The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
