Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Coordinator Insurance Authorization coordinates prior authorization workflow associated with medications and in-office procedures for multiple practices. They will participate in work assigned to the prior authorization team, as well as, ongoing training for new and established team members. The Coordinator will organize and monitor the work of all staff assigned to prior authorization functions and will hold team members accountable by working with Practice Supervisor, ensuring consistency in process and documentation.

Essential Job Functions

  • Plans, prioritizes, and coordinates the work of others; maintains confidentiality of sensitive information; monitors quality control standards; identifies problems and recommends solutions and corrects errors.

  • Maintains a current knowledge of all departmental policies, procedures, functions and electronica health record (EHR) in order to make appropriate decisions with guidance from the Area Practice Manager (APM) for all aspects of the practice.

  • Trains new employees working at site, and well as employees who need re-training.

  • Monitors quality assurance as it relates to processes associated with prior authorization; exercises initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making.

  • Establishes and maintains an effective working relationship with clinical and clerical staff, physicians,

  • Under the direction of the Practice Supervisor or Area Practice Manager, coordinates and implements process improvement and direct work staff on a daily basis.
